Jeffrey Archer’s £18million deal with Macmillan

Jeffrey Archer has just been awarded an £18million advance from Macmillan books to complete a book a year for 5 years for the Forsyte Saga. A book a year? Is that even possible?
For years everyone has been wondering if Archer even wrote the books he puts his name on as detailed, quite rightly, by the Gurdian here. The former Conservative peer, who has been jailed for perjury in 2001 says “Kane & Abel sold 33 million copies. It would be nice to top that.” He also added that, “It is going to be a heck of a challenge to write five books in five years. I write for eight hours a day.”
A publicity stunt? Maybe. Perhaps it will make most of us go out to buy his books just to see if it is worth the price tag, thereby unintentionally making it sell by the millions.
